Hands-on nature lesson for kids: Hands-on nature lesson for kids – Times Colonist – October 2022

Thank you so much to our parent volunteers – Kim Guiry, Michelle Paleczny, and Rosy Hartman – as well as Kristen Miskelly and Abby Hyde from Satinflower Nurseries for all of their help with learning about and planting our natural meadow yesterday.  Thank you also to parent Colin Eaton for donating mulch to our project.  Finally, we want to acknowledge the City of Langford and Habitat Conservation Trust.   Below are some links to media coverage of the event:

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The PAC has generously donated the Ziplock bags for your child’s comfort kit.

These have a label space on them for your child’s name.

Please do not put the grade or teachers name on the bag so that these can be re-used for the following year.

Childs Last name, First name

If you have already brought the comfort kit to school please still put your child’s name on the bag and hand back to the teacher. All kits will be transferred to these bags.

The lost and found will be outside today at 2:15 PM.

The photographers will be at the school on Monday, October 3 for our individual staff and student photo day.

 
 

Today our school will be host to the PAC BBQ Fundraiser, our Mural Unveiling Ceremony, and Meet the Teacher event. Here is some information to note:

 

PAC BBQ

  • Food will be served from 4:30pm – 5:45pm.
  • Tables will be set up in the gym for eating.
  • Hot dogs/Veggie dogs will be sold for $2.00 each. Chips and a drink will be available for $1.00 each.

Mural Unveiling Ceremony

  • Ceremony will begin at 6:00pm and last for approximately15-20 minutes

Meet the Teacher – Please note that Meet the Teacher is a “meet and greet” event, and teachers will not be addressing individual concerns at this time.

  • After the Mural Ceremony, meet at your child’s classroom line up spot.
  • Teachers will join you and direct you to their classrooms.
  • Meet the Teacher runs until 7:00pm

Parking is limited at the school, so please consider walking to the school or parking your vehicle nearby and walking.

  • Meet the Teacher – when the Mural Unveiling ceremony is finished, families will be asked to line up at their child’s classroom line-up spot. Teachers will collect families and direct them into the school. The Meet the Teacher event runs until 7:00pm.

  • BBQ will be cash only. 
 
 

After school today (Thursday) our leadership students will be selling fresh, local tomatoes from our school garden.  $5 per basket.  Cash only please.
